Will It Work On My Computer?

What Do You Mean?

Ubuntu can run on a variety of computers, but you need to fulfill the system requirements. Usually if you are running Windows Vista or above you can run Ubuntu no problem, and the same is true for computers running Windows XP in most cases. Usually RAM (Memory) is the limiting factor for these older computers.

So What Do I Look For?

Your computer should have at least the following specs in order to run Ubuntu successfully.
  • 1 GHz Processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 5GB HDD Space
I recommend the specs below, they are not required but ensure a smooth running install.
  • 1.86 GHz Processor
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 20GB HDD Space
If your computer meets these specifications then you are ready to download and install Ubuntu! If you do not know if you meet these requirements, and want to check and see if you do see below.
